Atsuta Shrine is located in the south of Nagoya City. It is believed that Atsuta Shrine was built sometime between 71-130. The area around the shrine is a lovely wooded park, that reminds us of Meiji Shrine in Harajuku.
Atsuta Shrine enshrines the Sun Goddess Amaterasu, and also houses a legendary sword called the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi. This is why it’s considered one of the most important shrines in Shintoism.
