Katsura Bridge is celebrated as a “power spot” for those seeking love. This iconic red bridge is also among the most photographed and recognizable landmarks in Shuzenji.
There are actually five bridges over the Katsura River, but Katsura Bridge is the most famous. It is located next to the Bamboo Forest Path, another popular spot.
What is Katsura Bridge?
According to legend, if you cross all five of the red bridges over the Katsura River while making a wish to find love, your wish will come true. Each bridge is said to offer its own unique blessing.
- Togetsu Bridge — For those hoping for a fateful encounter and a meaningful relationship.
- Kokei Bridge — For those already in love, wishing for a deeper connection.
- Katsura Bridge — For those trying to conceive or wishing for a safe pregnancy.
- Kaede Bridge — For those hoping their partner will propose and waiting for marriage.
- Takishita Bridge — For those seeking long-term love or wishing to be with someone for the long haul.
Katsura Bridge offers the perfect photo opportunity in autumn, when the vibrant red and orange leaves beautifully contrast with the bridge’s rich hue.
