Once a ryokan, Kiunkaku is today listed as a cultural property in Atami because of its unique architecture, which takes inspiration from both Western and Eastern aesthetics.
Some of the building’s main points of interest include the Roman Bathroom and “Gyokkei”, a room featuring Tudor-style architecture and shrine-like details. There’s also a beautiful Japanese garden to wander through. On the other side, you’ll find a Japanese-style building called “Kujaku”, where you can sit and watch the moon.
