If you like trains, then you’ll love the Kyoto Railway Museum.
The Kyoto Railway Museum has over 50 retired trains, including everything from steam trains to Shinkansen. You can also see old railway uniforms, tools and a miniature train diorama. Lots of the displays are interactive, and there are even train simulators.
How to buy tickets
Tickets are ¥1,500 for adults, ¥1,300 for university and high school students, and ¥500 for middle school and elementary school students. Children under 3 years old are free, but if they’re between 3 and 5 years old it costs ¥200.
You can buy same-day tickets at the venue, but we recommend buying them online in advance. Keep in mind that some of the interactive displays and simulators cost extra.
