Mount Rishiri is a volcano located at the center of on island to which it gives its name in the sea of Japan, to the east of the Hokkaido mainland.

Like most vaguely Fuji shaped volcanoes in Japan, locals add the “Fuji” suffix, so it’s often referred to as Rishiri-fuji.

Although the peak is considerably lower than Fuji at 1,721 meters, it’s still a challenging climb with some steep jagged parts towards the top.
