Ōura Cathedral is the oldest surviving Christian Church in all of Japan. Its distinct gothic-European architecture stands out from other religious buildings in Nagasaki, making it one of the most visited spots in the area.

Ōura Cathedral, founded in 1864 by French priests, was initially built for the foreign community in Nagasaki. During the period when Christianity was banned in Japan, it quickly became a sanctuary for hidden Christian leaders and missionaries. The church was later dedicated to the 26 Catholics martyred in 1597. Today, it is recognized as a National Treasure.

To enter the cathedral, it will cost ¥1,000 for adults, ¥400 for high school students, ¥300 for elementary school students, and between ¥150 to ¥300 for those with disabilities. You can purchase tickets in advance on the official website.
