The Tochigi Autumn Festival is a three day traditional festival that usually takes place in Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture in even-numbered years.
What happens?
The highlight of the festival is the procession of ningyo dashi – towering wheeled floats with robed figures (ningyo) on top of them which takes places on both the second and third days of the festival. The illumination of the dashi at night with lanterns is especially spectacular.
