Fukuoka Christmas Market and Illuminations

Free

Fukuoka Christmas Market is considered one of the biggest Christmas markets in Japan. There are a number of venues, so technically there is more than one market. The miniature Christmas towns will display lights, trees, ornaments, and sell piping hot drinks and food.

JR Hakata Station Square (Hakata)

The Hikari no Machi illuminations and market will set up stalls from Nov. 1 to Dec. 25. Festivities start from 4:45 p.m. till 11 p.m. on weekdays and from noon till 11 p.m on weekends and holidays

Fukuoka City Hall (Tenjin)

In the square to the west of Fukuoka City Hall, the Tenjin Christmas Market will begin from Nov. 16 to Dec. 25. Weekdays are from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends are noon to 11 p.m.

Other events

  • Christmas market at Fukuoka Daimaru El Gala Passage Square (Nov. 15–Dec. 25)
  • Illuminations along Nakasu Chuo-dori
  • Illuminations at Tenjin Central Park

There will also be a number of Santas hanging out around Fukuoka City — will you be able to spot them all? (Tip: They occasionally move locations.)

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
