To celebrate the changing of seasons, Kiyomizu-dera opens up in the evening three times a year (autumn, spring, and summer) and holds an illumination event to brighten up the foliage.
What happens?
The pagoda, temple, and Jojuin Garden will be lit up for a special viewing after dark.
Schedule
Illuminations will turn on from 6 p.m. — no reservations or special ticket is required, just pay the normal admission fee.
