The Mount Fuji (Mt. Fuji) Marathon is a great opportunity to see one of the most famous mountains in the world framed by the beauty of a Japanese autumn.
Entry
Entry usually starts early in June and ends in late September. Entry prices are between ¥10,000 and ¥25,000. A little high, but that gets you a medal shaped like Fuji-san when you finish.
Course
The course starts and ends at the Funatsu Parking Lot near Kawaguchiko Station. The route has you run a loop around the two major lakes in the area: Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Saiko. There is one steep incline just before you descend in to the Lake Saiko area.
How to get there
Getting to Kawaguchiko from Tokyo is pretty easy — just take a look at our article. The only thing you need to worry about is how much you want to spend and where to stay.
