If you’re tired of Tokyo’s perfectly trimmed gardens, escape to this wild bloom festival in Nagano.
What happens?
The Fujimi Panorama Resort hosts its annual Lily of the Valley Festival, where over a million delicate flowers blanket the highland trails. Visitors can ride a gondola up to 1,780 meters and wander among both German and native Japanese varieties of suzuran, as well as other seasonal wildflowers like primula, azaleas, and rare alpine orchids.
If you’d like, you can also hike to the 1,955-meter summit of Mount Nyukasa for sweeping views of Mount Fuji, the Yatsugatake range, and over 30 other famous peaks.
