Immerse yourself in the vibrant autumn colors of Kyoto at Rurikō-in Temple, a seasonal highlight you won’t want to miss.
What happens?
Rurikō-in Temple opens its doors for a special autumn viewing period from October 1st to December 10th, 2024. Nestled at the foot of Mount Hiei in Kyoto, Rurikō-in is renowned for its stunning seasonal landscapes. In fact, it’s one of the best places to enjoy fall foliage in the Kansai region.
A dream destination for photographers, this temple offers unparalleled beauty that’s worth the effort (and chunk of change) to visit. Due to structural concerns, the temple is not always open to the public, making autumn a rare opportunity to explore this hidden gem. It boasts three stunning gardens and a serene tea room.
During the special opening, you can also admire works by Louis Icart, a French printmaker who was active during the Art Deco era. The temple museum commemorates the sister city affiliation between Paris and Kyoto.
Schedule 2024
In 2024, the temple will open from October 1 (Tuesday) to December 10 (Tuesday), from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last entry at 4:30 p.m.).
Tickets
Tickets for the autumn viewing are priced at ¥2,000 for adults and ¥1,000 for students (with ID). Children under middle school age enter for free. Reservations may be required for certain dates, especially in November, so check the official website for the latest updates.
