The Takabocchi Kogen Horse Race has ended its long history. Alternative festivals are being considered.
What happens?
This is a horse race which takes place in Shiojiri City on the grassy Takabocchi Plateau. With around 80 competitors from throughout Japan, organizers claim that it is the highest altitude horse race to take place in Japan.
Apart from the main race, there are pony rides for the kids and lots of other horsey activities.
