As dusk softens the edges of Osaka’s Nagai Botanical Garden, a field of baby blue eyes begins to shimmer with something half-natural, half-programmed, and entirely otherworldly.
What to expect
Life is Flickering Light Floating in the Dark – Nemophila is a seasonal installation created by international art collective teamLab. Set among the blooming baby blue eyes of Osaka’s Nagai Botanical Garden, the work seamlessly blends nature and technology.
When you pause near the nemophila blooms, they glow a little brighter and emit a soft, soothing tone. That light and sound ripple outward to nearby flowers. If a glow comes from the other side, it means someone else is nearby, creating a quiet, shared moment.

Schedule 2026
Life is Flickering Light Floating in the Dark – Nemophila can be viewed from March 28 to April 12 (tentatively – check the official website for details). However, keep in mind that the exhibition period shifts depending on the flowering condition.
Additionally, Floating Resonating Lamps on Oike Lake – Ambiguous Cherry Blossom, where the lamps on the Oike Lake shine and resonate in hues of pink, and Floating, Resonating Spheres, a synesthetic fever dream involving spheres of light that change color emit sounds, will also be on display until April 13.
