Step inside the world Van Gogh never lived to see.
What to expect
Vincent van Gogh once dreamed that his paintings would offer solace and be seen long after his death. Van Gogh’s Home: The Painter’s Legacy, the Family Collection, the Ongoing Story brings that vision full circle, tracing how his art passed through the hands of those who loved him most.
This landmark exhibition — the first of its kind in Japan — focuses on the Van Gogh family collection, illuminating the devotion of Theo, Jo, and Vincent Willem van Gogh in safeguarding and shaping Vincent’s legacy. On display will be rarely seen letters, original canvases, and archival materials.
Held to mark both Osaka Expo 2025 and the reopening of the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts, this show invites you to see Van Gogh not only as a solitary genius, but as a brother, husband, and father whose legacy was lovingly carried into the future.

The museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Saturdays. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing. It is closed on Mondays and on Tuesday, July 22.
