Nicknamed “Kyoto’s Kitchen’, Nishiki Market is a busy hub of market traders selling local produce and traditional dishes like sweets, pickled roots and heirloom vegetables. With over 100 stalls to choose from, there’s plenty to sample and explore, with some of the best quality produce from the region available. Started as a fish market, it has been running since 1310 and is surrounded by a covered shopping area with a shrine, clothes stores and restaurants.
