Stretching along the Shukugawa River in Nishinomiya, Hyōgo, Shukugawa Park is one of the Kansai region’s top cherry blossom spots.
With 1,660 cherry trees, the park houses a number of sakura varieties, including Somei-yoshino, the most famous cherry blossom variety, and white Ōshimazakura, beloved for their citrusy scent. Later in the season, deep pink Kanzan bloom, keeping the park vibrant well into April.
Picnics are allowed, but as the park runs through a residential area, visitors are asked to be mindful of noise levels, take their trash home, and avoid reserving spots with picnic sheets. Barbecuing and any open flames are strictly prohibited.
