See Fukuoka Castle shine in all its glory at this special illumination event taking place between March and April.
What happens?
The castle will light up on the same day the Fukuoka Sakura Festival starts. Visitors will not only get to see the castle illuminated in seven different colors but also get a glimpse of what the castle would look like if it was still standing today. There will be an illuminated framework of the castle in its original form on the stone wall base of the castle tower.
There will also be two other illuminated areas in the surrounding area — with one being a special cherry blossom illumination.
Tickets
Admission to all three illuminated areas is ¥1,500. Alternatively, you can just pick to see one for ¥600. Get your tickets in advance.
How to get to Fukuoka Castle
You can take the Fukuoka City Subway (Airport Line) to Ohori Park Station, and walk 8 minutes, or Akasaka Station and walk 10 minutes.
Another option is to take the Nishitetsu Bus to Fukuoka Castle/Korokan-mae and walk for around 8 minutes.
