To celebrate the changing of seasons, Kiyomizu-dera opens up in the evening three times a year (autumn, spring, and summer) and holds an illumination event to brighten up the foliage.
What happens?
The pagoda, temple, and Jojuin Garden will be lit up.
Illuminations will turn on from 6 p.m. The temple will be open until 9:30 p.m. but note that last entrance will be at 9 p.m.
No reservations or special ticket are required; just pay the normal admission fee.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.-
