Trabslating as 10,000 memorial lights, this event has 10,000 candles lighting up 2,500 lanterns as part of the traditional Bon festival. Held at temples across Japan, Todaiji is a particularly impressive event as the temple window is open so the Buddha’s face can be seen looking out to the night sky. Entry to the temple costs 600 yen.
