The already beautiful and bustling streets of Kobe’s China Town will be decorated with hundreds of red lanterns until Christmas Day.
What happens?
The magical surroundings are perfect for an evening stroll as you enjoy a tasty snack, have dinner or do some shopping, and only a few minutes away from the other light displays in Kobe.
In the central plaza, you’ll find giant balloon figures of Zaizai (財財) and Lailai (來來), Nankinmachi’s official mascots. The cheerful characters representing prosperity and good fortune. The plaza also displays a shimmering arched light installation.
Schedule 2025
There will be a lighting ceremony and fireworks on November 22 around 4:50 p.m. followed by a traditional lion dance performed by the Nankinmachi Dragon Troupe.
The lights will go from around 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
