Known for his pottery, calligraphy and painting, Kitaoji Rosanjin was a famed guest of the small onsen town.
Although he only stayed here for a few months in 1915, the house has been preserved with examples of his work and that of his contemporaries on display. There is a library, workroom and area for relaxing with a cup of tea while looking out at the garden.
Entry is ¥500 for adults, ¥250 for those over the age of 75 and free for hugh school students and younger.
