A cat-themed shop with a small cafe, Shima no Eki is a rest stop with toilets, benches and plenty of cats.
Originally the island’s elementary school, it closed in 1989 but was later turned into an education center for the island. Unfortunately, this too closed in 2008 but it has now become a rest stop for visitors. Offering plenty of unique cat-island gifts as well as light snacks and drinks, it’s a great stop-off on the walk between Nitoda and Odomari. There are benches outside which are free to use but we do suggest buying something from the cafe if you can in order to support the island’s community.
