An artsy and slightly surreal café in Fukuoka, serving stylish traditional desserts and different types of coffee.
What’s Muen Coffee?
While the name of the café, Muen, means “without connection” in Japanese, the café’s concept takes inspiration from “mizuhiki”, a traditional knot symbolizing connection. Every aspect of Muen Coffee reflects this symbolic interplay — from the red knots adorning the desserts to the subtle red accents in the interior design.
On the menu, you’ll find your standard Americano and matcha, along with more unique creations like a red latte. For something sweet, you can enjoy tiramisu, cheesecake, or “hand ice cream” (decorated with chocolate hands). If you’re feeling extravagant, opt for a beautifully decorated dessert box filled with traditional sweets and seasonal fruits (it will cost you ¥2,500 though).
