Cities and Towns in Tochigi
Located in the north of the Kanto region, Tochigi is one of 8 landlocked prefectures in Japan.
Tochigi is famous for its history (Nikko was where the Tokugawa clan came from – the family of shoguns that ruled Japan continuously for 265 years) and its abundant nature. The terrain ranges from verdant green rice paddies to densely forested hills. Driving around the mountains, it’s not unusual to come across nihon zaru (Japanese monkeys).
Pro tip: Pick up a Nikko Pass to save money on transport and sightseeing on your trip from Tokyo to Nikko.
